Continuous Flight Auger Piling: Expertise and Applications
Durable and Dependable Solutions for Challenging Soil Conditions
At Tri-State Drilling, we are recognized as a leading Auger Cast Pile installer, also known as continuous flight auger piles (CFA). Our solutions provide reliable and efficient deep foundation support, tailored to meet the unique demands of your project. Using advanced hollow stem augers and grout pumps, we deliver cast-in-place piles designed for maximum stability and strength.
Versatile Applications
Structural Support
Robust foundations for buildings, bridges, and other structures.
Earth Retention
Effective for secant & tangent systems, especially with on-site boundaries or near existing buildings.
Landslide Prevention
Helps protect existing structures and stabilize slopes, often used with ground anchors or soil nails.
Auger Cast Piles Installation
CFA piles are constructed by rotating a hollow stem continuous flight auger into the soil to the designed depth. Concrete or grout is pumped through the hollow stem, filling the cavity created as the auger is slowly withdrawn. The process requires careful control of grout pressure and volume to ensure a continuous, defect-free pile. Reinforcement cages are then placed into the freshly poured concrete.
Typical Project Stages:
Drilling: Hollow stem auger drills to the designed depth.
Grouting: Concrete or grout is pumped under pressure or static head as the auger is withdrawn.
Reinforcement: Steel reinforcement cages are inserted into the fresh concrete, with options for extended lengths as required.
We implement a documented Quality Management System procedure, utilizing non-destructive testing methods to evaluate pile integrity and load-settlement performance. Verification techniques are selected based on project and application specifics, ensuring rigorous quality assurance.
Key Benefits
Load Resistance
Handles compressive, uplift, and lateral loads effectively.
Cost-Efficient
Provides a high-value foundation solution.
Versatile Soil Compatibility
Suitable for various soil types, including sands, clays, silts, gravels, and soft rock.
Deep and Variable Diameters
Achieves depths exceeding 80-feet and diameters ranging from 12-inches to 36-inches.
Low Impact
Minimal noise and vibration, ideal for built-up areas with weak soils and high groundwater levels.
Fast Construction
No need for temporary casings or support systems, speeding up the process.
Innovative Solutions for Secure Foundations
Ensuring the highest quality pile construction is our priority. Our CFA rigs are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation to monitor all aspects of the installation, including pile depth, auger rotation, penetration rate, concreting pressure, extraction rate, and over-break. Each pile is logged with detailed records including element identification, date, time, and operator details.
