Shop Superintendent

The Shop Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the maintenance and repairs of all equipment and tooling. In addition, position manages the maintenance,

security and daily upkeep of shop and office facilities as needed. Manages Chief Mechanic, Field Mechanics, Logistics Manager, and Chief Welder.


  • Manages, directs and assists as needed Chief Mechanic, Field Mechanics and Welding staff; hires, trains and reviews performance of staff.
  • Coordinates repair and maintenance of equipment with Chief Mechanic.
  • Assists management with projections for equipment budgets, purchases, and disposals.
  • Ensures that all equipment is properly insured; Responsible for warranty issues and insurance claims.
  • Responsible for all vehicle licensing, insurance and stickers.
  • Research truck and equipment manufacturers, model and specification before purchase or rental.
  • Directs design and modification of equipment to suit company needs.
  • Opens/Closes gates, opens building, manages security system.
  • Buys/sells equipment.
  • Manages vehicles owned by the company.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with vendors, suppliers, and employees to ensure the best possible service and pricing.
  • Oversee welding and mechanics shops.
  • Approve equipment-related invoices from field and shop.
  • Manages timing and performance of crane inspections.
  • Sets up, manages, and monitors all equipment rentals, bulk fuel, oxygen, and acetylene.
  • Assists Chief Mechanic in tracking maintenance and repairs in computer system.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten (10) plus years of experience with equipment and equipment management relevant to the industry; minimum five (5) years supervision of staff.
  • CDL with Clutch/Tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Knowledge of equipment and maintenance procedures; strong mechanical knowledge and ability.
