The Senior Safety Manager establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, incident free and healthy work environment through the implementation of EHS procedures and other initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and maintains EHS policies and procedures to be followed by employees
- Develops and ensures implementation of strategies to deliver EHS training throughout the company
- Works with General Superintendents, Project Managers, and Field Supervisors to promote a strong relationship between safety, quality, and productivity.
- Ensures implementation of routine project inspection strategies
- Oversees the company’s safety review processes
- Ensures that all incidents are appropriately investigated, reported and documented
- Analyzes incident trends and implements preventive or corrective actions
- Oversees effective injured worker management and works with insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time
- Oversees the maintenance of EHS files and records
- Prepares reports regarding the performance of the safety department
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or a related field
- An in-depth understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT and other legal requirements
- Strong process management skills
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
- Professional Certifications ASP or CSP
- Minimum of five to seven years’ experience in the field of EHS
- Power/Transmission Line industry experience a PLUS
Working conditions
- Regular travel is required.
