Job purpose
The Estimating Intern will support the project management team with administrative and operational
duties as assigned.


Duties and responsibilities
Search and review bidding opportunities
Review plans and specifications to determine the scope of the work required for the project.
Complete accurate takeoffs utilizing software and hand takeoff quantities for various aspects of each project.
Solicit quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers for bid preparation and final numbers.
Construct bids by adding activities (work to be completed), crews and equipment, adjusting production rates.
Reviews bid with estimator or project manager. Create bid proposals
Attend project meetings.
Prepare pre-job documents for the field crews
Assist in Project Management duties including production tracking, look ahead schedules, billing
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum of 1-year education working toward completion of bachelor s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar discipline.
At least 1 summer of construction work experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisor.
Ability to read, comprehend and act on simple instructions.
Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude

Working Conditions
Travel may be required to observe project sites
